Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers about getting started, preparing a trip, saving your data, and sharing with others.

Before you start

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can create a trip immediately without login or email registration.

Which devices are supported?

simrip works on iPhone and iPad. Check the App Store product page for the currently supported operating system before downloading.

Can I use simrip for free?

Yes. The app is free to download and its basic features are free. There is an optional one-time purchase to remove ads. Edit together includes the first collaborative trip free per Apple Account; later trips are purchased individually at the price shown by the App Store before purchase.

Creating and sharing

What travel information can I organize?

You can organize daily plans, packing items, booking details, checklists, travel expenses, and images of places you want to visit or food you want to try.

What can I do in International travel mode?

Organize the itinerary by trip day, view local dates and city time zones, set separate departure and arrival days for transit, and manage multi-night stays.

Can I attach images and PDF files?

Yes. Add ticket or reservation images and PDF files to a booking, with up to 10 attachments per booking. You can also use “Add booking, URL or images” in a plan to save a shop’s website URL or reference images. If no reservation is needed, select “No reservation needed”; the plan will stay out of the Bookings menu, and you can view the information on its detail screen.

Can I send a trip to someone who does not have the app?

Yes. Save or share it as an image, multi-page PDF, or text. Images and PDF files are convenient when the recipient only needs to view the trip.

Can I reuse a trip for another journey?

Yes. Copy the whole trip, or copy only packing items and categories to a new trip. When copying only packing items, all items start unchecked.

What are the conditions for Edit together?

The first trip is free per Apple Account. Later trips cost ¥500 including tax per trip in the Japanese App Store. Check the price before purchase. Up to 10 people including the owner. Invited participants do not need to make an extra purchase. Through the trip end date: Edit plans, bookings, and packing. New people can join. More about shared data and conditions

In Edit together, does checking off packing or list items also check them off for other people?

No. Checks for packing and list items are personal. Checking or unchecking an item does not change its checked status for other participants. Adding items or changing their names is shared, so everyone can use the same items while checking them off individually.

Storage and device changes

Where is my trip data stored?

Regular trips are stored on your device. Edit together also stores the trip data needed for synchronization and any images or PDF files selected for sharing in the cloud. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How should I prepare for changing devices?

Export a backup file from Settings before changing devices, then import it on the new device. Cover images, images and PDFs attached to bookings or insurance information, and clip image files are not included in the backup, so store any files you need separately.
