Import an AI-made itinerary

If starting an itinerary from scratch feels difficult, you can create one with the AI you already use and import it into simrip.

Tell AI where you want to go, how many days you have, and other basics to make a first outline. After importing, freely adjust the details in simrip: change times, add plans, or remove plans.

Use AI for the outline, and simrip for the details.

It is an easy way to begin planning when building every plan from zero feels like too much.

4 STEPS

Follow these steps.

  1. Describe your trip

    Enter what you know: destination, dates, number of travelers, budget, transport, places you want to visit, and food preferences. It is fine to mark undecided details as “options.”

    Your input is not saved on this page. You decide whether to send it to AI.

  2. Ask AI to create a JSON file

    The prompt below contains the simrip backup format and a rule to create simrip-ai-itinerary-YYYYMMDD.json as a downloadable file. Open ChatGPT, or copy it into a new chat with your usual AI.

    Open in ChatGPT

    When ChatGPT attaches a file, download it and continue to the next step. If the URL does not open, use “Copy prompt” instead.

  3. Check the JSON file

    Download the attached simrip-ai-itinerary-YYYYMMDD.json from ChatGPT and select it here. This page checks the basic format simrip can import without sending the file anywhere.

    The contents of the file are not sent to simrip.

    If the AI could not create a JSON file

    If the AI returned JSON text only, paste it here to save it as simrip-ai-itinerary-YYYYMMDD.json.

    If the reply includes explanation, paste only the text from { through }.

  4. Add it with simrip backup import

    Use the file you downloaded from ChatGPT or saved on this page to add the itinerary through the app’s existing import feature. Your current trip booklets will not be removed.

    1. In the Files app on your iPhone or iPad, confirm that simrip-ai-itinerary-YYYYMMDD.json is saved.
    2. Open simrip and select Settings.
    3. Select Import backup, then choose the saved JSON file.
    4. Choose to add it on the confirmation screen. It is added as a new trip booklet, which you can review and edit as needed.
